Community Assessments. CCSNYS staff have extensive experience with designing and conducting community assessments to help identify service delivery concerns that may exist within a particular area as well as the resources that are currently available to address those concerns. Community assessments can be either comprehensive or narrow in scope. CCSNYS tailors the components of each assessment to the specific issues under study, with the particular research tools used determined by the subject, scope, and time frame of the project. Generally, a comprehensive assessment will utilize a mix of objective and subjective data sources which can include analysis of census data and social indicators, development of service inventories, and conducting surveys and focus groups. CCSNYS experience also includes specialty assessments such as the Community Assessments that are federally mandated for Head Start programs.
